My name is Silvia and I’m a Child Protection specialist. I’ve worked across many countries and emergencies over my 8 years with Save the Children, and through this time my focus has been on giving vulnerable children the best chance to survive and thrive. It’s demanding, but incredible, work.
From the moment I boarded the flight to Bentiu in northern South Sudan, I knew it was going to be an emotional journey. I was part of a team travelling to meet five children who had been separated from their mother for nearly half a decade. I knew it would be special, but I didn’t realise how much it would affect me.
JUBA 17.04.2019 - Save the Children, UNICEF and partners have successfully reunited 6,000 children with their families after years of separation due to conflict. This is a milestone for the Family Tracing and Reunification (FTR) programme in South Sudan since the first reunification of 420 children in 2014.
