The people who took and shot my son do not want me to have my son alive, and they wanted him dead. After Save the Children brought my child back home, I was very excited with Save the Children.

Pocket-sized innovation, giant impact: New app and online system launches in South Sudan to support most vulnerable children

The innovations will support case workers helping unaccompanied and separated children, child survivors of sexual violence, and children associated with armed groups.

JUBA, South Sudan 07 June 2019- A new online database and application designed to better protect children in emergencies is today being launched in Juba by UNICEF, Save the Children and a network of child protection organisations.

My name is Silvia and I’m a Child Protection specialist. I’ve worked across many countries and emergencies over my 8 years with Save the Children, and through this time my focus has been on giving vulnerable children the best chance to survive and thrive. It’s demanding, but incredible, work.

We reunified our 6000th child in South Sudan this week. It was incredibly emotional.

From the moment I boarded the flight to Bentiu in northern South Sudan, I knew it was going to be an emotional journey. I was part of a team travelling to meet five children who had been separated from their mother for nearly half a decade. I knew it would be special, but I didn’t realise how much it would affect me.
